GANGHUT are proud to announce the launch of their new PROJECT SPACE at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, Lumsden, Aberdeenshire.  The space was launched on the 15th November 2008 and will see the beginning of a new chapter in the life of GANGHUT, again gathering strength in numbers to don the obligatory green overalls ready for a new challenge/invasion.
Working in partnership with ‘Draw Architects’ the PROJECT SPACE has been redeveloped, re-sited and rebuilt from two of the original structures, which were constructed for ‘GANGHUT Gala Day’, which took place summer 2007. The Gala Day was a culmination of a 6-month residency at SSW, which saw GANGHUT living and working closely with the local community to reinstate their lost gala day. After months of communal living, which involved planting vegetables, raising two pigs, a bit of space exploration, a good dose of sleep deprivation and a lot of hard graft the gala day was held. Flags were hung and songs were sung.
One year later and GANGHUT returned to Lumsden to build the new PROJECT SPACE with their own fair hand(s) and continue the successful partnership between GANGHUT and SSW. The project aims to complement and enhance the range of activities undertaken by SSW, and provides Aberdeenshire with its first purpose built contemporary art space.  GANGHUT will curate a programme of exhibitions, commissions and events inviting artists and collaborators from near and far.
